GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 539462
epiphany not picking up favicons in bookmarks or bookmark editor
Last modified: 2010-01-20 22:12:33 UTC
Please describe the problem: freshly installed Fedora 9 with latest repo epiphany. /home/gnome2/epiphany preserved -- i.e. not reformatted Lost all of my favicons; addresses (urls) still in cache. Favicons won't re-install even after re-visiting each site. Not the end of the world, but I had got used to idenifying frequently used sites by their favicon. Steps to reproduce: 1. Using epiphany 2. 3. Actual results: bookmarks and bookmarks editor list are displayed with no icon at the beginning of each line Expected results: favicons would be displayed at startup or if lost, after visiting site. Always did in the past Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
Thanks for taking the time to file this bug report. Did you have the favicon extension enabled in the past? Is it active now?
Yes the favicon extension was enabled in my previous version under Fedora 8 as far as I can remember. I did have all my favicons and epiphany did do fallbacks when needed. In F9, Epiphany 2.22.2, I have the Favicon Fallback extension loaded and enabled. I don't see any other Facicon extensions.
Could this be a dupe of bug 510763 then?
Yes it could be duplication of bug 510763; with the addition that I expected on a new install epiphany would pick up all my previous favicons in ~/.gnome2/epiphany/favicon_cache.
Making a dependency then.
More recently a patch has been submitted for this problem. See bug 578575
Favicons handling changed significantly in recent epiphany and webkit, and I'm unable to duplicate this behavior under 2.29.5 with webkit 1.18+. It sounds like this was most closely a dupe of 601859, which appears to have fixed 578575. I'm marking this a dupe of 601859, which is fixed. If you're still having problems with this behavior, consider reopening with specific instructions on how to duplicate it with 2.29.5 or later and webkit 1.18 or later. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 601859 ***
