Description Joaquin Bravo Contreras 2008-04-08 18:37:45 UTC
Older versions of banshee used to have a rating column on the library, so it was pretty easy to rate a song while being played. Right now there is no easy way to do this.

Specially, while listening to a song its pretty easy to know how you would rate it. So it would be really helpful to have a rating bar next to the song being played or en equivalent interface for this.

Thank you.

I agree with the second paragraph (I think the first is already the case). Perhaps it could look something like the image in the attachment?

Im am reallay missing this to.

The currently playing song on the top oft the playlist could also be improved in with some easy steps:
* Left clicking there should open the same menu like when clicking on the system tray icon.
* clicking on the sond should do the same as the "jump to currently playing song" in the playlist context menu (and this should be removed from there like suggested in another bug report).

Thanks for this great peace of Software!

+1

When playing Last.FM you get some "Love/Ban" buttons on the upper-right corner of Banshee, so I guess that would be the perfect place to put this.

For those who want to test this feature, there's a working patch in bug 544590.

Alex: Does this patch display the rating bar like Joaquin and Jon proposed?

Added RatingEntry object to SeekSlider

I have added the RatingEntry object so that it's located next to the track seek slider. The rating updates when a new track plays, and when it's changed. The changes are written back to the CurrentTrack.Rating attribute. Have a go with it, and see what you think.

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
