GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 516280
Does not display "Desktop" when home_is_desktop is enabled
Last modified: 2008-09-10 05:28:26 UTC
Please describe the problem: If you choose to enable the "home_is_desktop" option in nautilus (via gconf editor), your home folder appears twice in the GTK File chooser : one ase "home", the other as "desktop". Note that both share the same "desktop" icon, at least under Ubuntu Gutsy Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to gconf-editor > nautilus > home_is_desktop 2. Open a Gtk file chooser 3. Profit (? maybe not this time ;-) ) Actual results: Expected results: only one home in the gtkfile chooser Does this happen every time? yes Other information: Ubuntu Gutsy with Gnome 2.20.1
I don't think this feature is part of the XDG spec. Therefore the file chooser can't easily support it. Nautilus obviously doesn't have that requirement. So for this either the spec needs to be enhanced or another platform independant approach must be found.
Correction, the spec for this is already there: http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/xdg-user-dirs
