"I am using Ubuntu Hardy. I just updated Nautilus to 2.21.6 and now all my folders have lost their custom icons and show the default folder icon. Also, I can't set custom icons for them anymore." 

Also reproducible with 2.21.90

"Note how the icon part of the properties dialogue is no longer a clickable icon."

That doesn't seem to be a duplicate, the dialog has still no icon selector

Agree with Sebastian and I nave to confirm. To date, on Properties dialog no icon selector, also stretching icons work only with themes icons not with icons with other paths (some customized folders ..before 2.21.6), some links on the Desktop are opened now with Firefox instead Nautilus.
