GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 475102
Please add translator comments to explain the context of localized date format strings
Last modified: 2013-10-28 21:15:53 UTC
Please describe the problem: Hey everybody Consider the following date format strings that are marked for translation #: ../Tomboy/Tray.cs:193 msgid "dddd, MMMM d, h:mm tt" #: ../Tomboy/Utils.cs:182 msgid "MMMM d, h:mm tt" #: ../Tomboy/Utils.cs:183 msgid "MMMM d" #: ../Tomboy/Utils.cs:188 msgid "MMMM d yyyy, h:mm tt" #: ../Tomboy/Utils.cs:189 msgid "MMMM d yyyy" It is of course a good thing that they are marked for translation. But, there really should be a translator comment, explaining both the format (though it can probably be guessed), and the context of the string, meaning where in the program and GUI are they going to be used. Thanks in advance Kenneth Nielsen Steps to reproduce: Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
And please also comment on this one. #: ../Mono.Addins/Mono.Addins.Gui/Mono.Addins.Gui/AddinTreeWidget.cs:168 msgid "Other" "Other" can be translated in a number of ways depending on what it is referring to
Oh yeah and I think there is a error in this string. #: ../Tomboy/Synchronization/SyncDialog.cs:275 msgid "Preparing to upload updates from server..." Isn't this supposed to be "Preparing to upload updates to server..." ??
They just keep coming and coming ! #: ../data/tomboy.schemas.in.h:22 msgid "Note Synchronization Conflict Saved Behavior" What exactly does this mean? #: ../Tomboy/Addins/PrintNotes/gtksourceprintjob.c:333 msgid "Font description to use for the line numbers" I strongly assume that the word "description" is a copy/paste error and isn't supposed to be there
