Subject: Switcher appearance "locks" : can not force 1 column for "selection switches" -

Distribution: Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper)
Package: Evolution
Severity: Normal
Version: GNOME2.14.3 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu
Synopsis: Switcher appearance "locks" : can not force 1 column for "selection switches" -
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Miscellaneous
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Description of Problem:
For some reason, the vertical bar can not be pushed to the left "any
time" as it used to do.
The switcher "locks" on 3 rows:
( 1- Mail ;2- Contacts/Calendar; 3- Memo/Tasks)

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1-Once I can get 1 column, 5 rows (with Mail),
2- switching to another topic modifies the switcher appearance.
3- View menu can NOT reset to original.
4 -Eventually, close Evol. & restart and reset in MAIL
... then back to 2 , when leaving MAIL.3.

Actual Results:

Expected Results:

How often does this happen?
Every time - NOW.
NO IDEA why - but EVOLUTION quit unexpectedly BEFORE IT started.
Any residual "flag" ??

Comment 1 mihaly 2007-08-02 15:25:27 UTC
Found ONE additional clue -
problem seem to be linked to the fact that my CALENDAR is pointing to a week that is NOT the current week. I use current view = "week view".
My calendar ponted to week 35 intead of 31 (this week) and this IS the reason that the switcher view changes WITHOUT ACTION FROM ME (re-tested it).
Is this part of the design or some side-effect.
Anyhow, I have my fix-bypass.
Thanks for the good work on EVOLUTION - I miss the old "weather" feature though;
I had it on Fedora - not on Ubu - may be their choice.

hmm, to be honest i don't really understand what this bug is about. can you provide a step-by-step explanation, starting at where we are? :-)
or screenshots (please don't show any confidential data)?

Screenshot of EVOLUTION after just clicking on antoher week

There is NO ACTION between the two screenshots - only clicking another week.
The switcher appearance remains locked to two columns until I click current week.
This scenario does NOT happen with all weeks other than current !
Comment 5 André Klapper 2007-10-01 13:12:43 UTC
yeah, it's because the string is much longer in the grey box in the upper left corner.
Comment 6 André Klapper 2012-02-15 13:46:42 UTC
...or maybe also because of the minimum width of the mini calendar.

This also affects translations that use longer strings, see for example:

This is fixed in 3.8 as the elements of the quick search bar wrap.
