Description Thilo 2007-08-02 13:16:58 UTC
What about an option that one can rtight click on a tab and say "close all but this tab"?

This would make live easier for all those users who tend to have a lot of tabs open.
Comment 1 Reinout van Schouwen 2007-08-02 13:26:16 UTC
I think this would make it too easy to accidentally close a lot of tabs, for which we don't have an undo possibility yet. (See bug 128184)
Comment 2 Cosimo Cecchi 2007-08-02 23:20:38 UTC
I agree with Reinout. Anyway, when bug #163060 will be fixed and we'll have "Detach Tab" again, it could cover (imho better than a "close all but this tab" option) your use case.
Comment 3 Thilo 2007-08-03 09:09:40 UTC
Aftermy report I saw that this was a feature of Galeon 1.1 ;-) "close other tabs" (http://galeon.sourceforge.net/news/index.php). I think your argument are valuable. What if we ask the user if he really wants to do this?
Comment 4 Cyril Brulebois 2007-09-07 06:23:32 UTC
I also agree with Reinout and Cosimo, but your confirmation idea sounds quite good to me. Again, I'd like to have the maintainers' decision on this topic.
Comment 5 Reinout van Schouwen 2007-09-08 16:46:22 UTC
Confirmation dialogs are bad, because most users automatically click OK before they've even read the message.

However there are quite a lot of tab-related extensions in existance (http://live.gnome.org/Epiphany/ThirdPartyExtensions), something like this feature could be added to one of them.
Comment 6 Reinout van Schouwen 2009-07-21 15:15:03 UTC
In Epiphany 2.27 with Webkit, Detach tab is back! Is 'close all but this tab' still wanted?
Comment 7 Thilo 2009-07-21 18:39:10 UTC
Oh yeah! :-)
Comment 8 Jean-François Fortin Tam 2012-10-07 04:56:02 UTC
Dangerous/out of scope, but feel free to write your own extension for this ;)
