Description Oded Arbel 2007-06-11 16:07:17 UTC
It would be great if I could have the option of specifying that for some folders, when I reply to an email in that folder, then the reply message would not go to the "sent" folder, but instead be filed immediately into the same folder.

This is very useful if I have mail folders for specific topics and I want to have an archive of the full conversation (including messages I sent). Its even useful for mailing lists folders in case the mailing list mailer doesn't mail a copy to the sender (I've seen a few such implementations).

Currently, I have to either collect the emails I want from the sent folders and file then manually, or BCC to myself and file it manually from the inbox (I do the latter, because I'm lazy but I have to go over my inbox once in a while).

workaround: set up a search folder including the sent folder and the specific folder
Comment 2 Oded Arbel 2007-06-12 08:27:46 UTC
Its not much of a workaround:
* I will get to enjoy having mail filed "properly" only on Evolution, but its not the only mail client I use (specifically, I use webmail when I'm out of the office).
* It would be impossible to have deeply nested hierarchical folder for filing (and I like to do that).
* And it means that I need to tag the message (for example, by adding a specific word to the subject line) and getting all my correspondents to do the same - which is probably impossible.

Currently the method I described above works for me, and it doesn't entail much more manual work then the search folder suggestion. I use this method when working with any e-mail client that doesn't have the "file replies here" feature, but it would be easier (and less confusing) if all e-mail clients would have that feature :-).

Anyway - no pressure, I just think it would be a nice feature to have for 2.12 (or maybe later).
