GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 445445
Evolution crashed (GSlice assertion failed) without stack trace (bugbuddy) --debug output attached
Last modified: 2007-11-02 03:34:12 UTC
Steps to reproduce: While trying to generate a stack trace for Bug 426807 (and all the duplicates), the main Evolution window suddenly disappeared. Bug Buddy did not show. I am still trying to work out how to reproduce. Stack trace: No stack trace was produced, but this is the contents of the --debug file. on evolution-2.10.2-2.fc7 (x86_64) this seems to be happening reliably when I leave Evolution running for an extended period of time, e.g. overnight. It is always the same error in the --debug output.
This morning's crash (!) had a different path to the usual ‘GSlice: assertion failed:’ silent crash. I don't know if it is important (time-stamps in the debug output would be nice), but here is the end of the --debug file: -------- (evolution:7701): e-activity-handler.c-WARNING **: e_activity_handler_operation_finished: Unknown activity 10922 (evolution:7701): e-utils-WARNING **: Cannot resolve symbol 'org_gnome_new_mail_config' in plugin '/usr/lib64/evolution/2.10/plugins/liborg-gnome-new-mail-notify.so' (not exported?) Confirming that this is still an issue on evolution-2.10.3-1.fc7 This is a very frequent bug. Is there a way of forcing a stack trace and get more information to the developers?
Reproducible for me following the instructions in Bug 456482 , i.e. 1. Open Preferences, Mail Preferences, Collected addresses 2. Select a local, non-default address book to collect addresses. 3. Click OK/close. 4. Go to 1. After less than a dozen iterations I get this bug or, rarer now, Bug 456482. (Note that this is really exercising Bug 447591.) gtk2.x86_64 2.10.14-3.fc7 gtk+.x86_64 1.2.10-57.fc7 evolution.x86_64 2.10.3-2.fc7 evolution-data-server.x86_64 1.10.3.1-2.fc7
