This is, to add support for Curves (and possibly other tools and/or filters) to work in diffrent color spaces w/o decomposition. 
i.e. Turning curves onm would let me choose HSV Colorspace, and then Value and work on it alone, thus less modifing the colors and value only and giving visual feedback on a coloured picture directly.

I don't think it makes sense to keep this report open. Of course support for other color spaces is on the roadmap. And when it lands, the Curves tool will be one of the first places where such support will surface. But the bug report is way too special to be useful at this point. In particular because LAB support as requested in bug #309485 would be much more useful.

Just as a remark - I had once a working branch to work with HSV in curves, but it looked of so little use (really, you may want to curve tune "Value", but that is available in the default tool), they I did not botter, at the time to refine the thing enough to be ready for the code base.

Now, I don't unsderstand much about  colorspaces out there and maybe Lab and others are more usefull - but in any case, it would be nice to detail the target color-spaces for Curves (nad possibly other tools) - and what operating in each would allow one to achieve.

Joao, let me point out that "Value" in the default tool is *not* the same as "Value" in HSV, which is very confusing -- see Bug #331782 for more detail.

I believe this would have usage scenarios, as I find curves-style tools far superior to slider-style tools. I don't think I've ever used the Brightness-Contrast tool since I started using the Curves tool's value curve. So allowing the Curves tool to work operate on multiple colorspaces would probably have a similar effect. An HSL colorspace curves would eclipse saturation, lightness, and possibly hue sliders in functionality. The same can probably be said for other colorspaces.
