Description Robert de Geus 2007-04-13 17:15:08 UTC
Ubuntu: feisty
Gthumb: 2.10.2

The portrait pictures in a folder are all shown in landscape format by gthumb. In nautilus the picture is shown with the right rotation. Inspection with Gimp shows that the pictures are indeed 1200x1600 versus 1600x1200 (in my case)

problem: Opening a picture in gthumb, opens a portrait picture in landscape format.

Strange enough, the nautilus image viewer does the same.

gThumb and eog (the nautilus image viewer) are showing the image correctly; it isn't a gThumb bug. It is a Nautilus+gimp bug.

Nautilus and the Gimp are ignoring the exif orientation tag.

Hi Michael,
I can confirm this, rotation the pictures in gthumb, and saving the pictures in gthumb solved the problem. It looks like the problem indeed lies with nautilus.
thanks for your prompt reply!
