GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 416740
Printing notification icon is not themeable
Last modified: 2011-01-28 04:00:19 UTC
The icon that appears in the notification area when you're printing does'nt have a transparent background: instead, it is grey. That means that when you're using a transparent or a coloured panel, this icon is quite ugly. I think this is just a little issue to fix. Moreover, this icon doesn't look to be temeable: tango project has a nice icon for printer, which is not used. Making it depend on theme could resolve this bug. Thanks
This doesn't sound like a gnome-icon-theme bug. It sounds like whatever is creating the notification area icon, doesn't handle the transparent panel properly, and is using an icon not from the theme or something. There are multiple printer things afaik, so I am not sure which one you're talking about exactly.
OK, sorry. I don't really know which component is handling this notification icon. Trying with gnome-print.
In 2.18, background is transparent: changing summary. This already great! But maybe it could depend on theme also...

Created attachment 97802 [details] [review] eggcups-themeable-icon.patch This patch depends on the patch from chpe you can find in bug #349262
eggcups is replaced by system-config-printer now so it's unlikely to get further development. I am closing bugs as WONTFIX. Please feel free to reopen the bugs in future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development.
