Description Matt Wheeler 2007-02-24 16:14:03 UTC
At the moment a directory called Podcasts is created inside the library directory....
This isn't great especially when the library is shared with other audio apps and the user doesn't want the podcasts to be added to his library.

There should be an option on the plugins dialogue that allows the user to specify where podcasts should be downloaded to

Because the concern seems to be having the podcasts in the main library and suggesting a potential solution to this, I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of Bug 341140.

Also, it wouldn't matter where the podcasts are physically located. They would still be in the main Music Library because that is based on the database.

This concern has been noted several times and I believe that the podcast plugin dev murbanski has plans to address it.

If you feel marking this a duplicate is in error, please feel free to reopen it and to explain how it is different.

I don't think this bug is a duplicate of 341140, as you said yourself, banshee's library is based on the database not a location.

I think that allowing the user to choose where his podcasts are downloaded to is an important feature for a podcast client.

The reason I mentioned the library at all was related to the use of other media players in addition to banshee. i.e. if I also use rhythmbox or listen (which both check the 'music library' folder for new additions and automatically add any tracks found to their library.

I also agree with 341140, that podcasts shouldn't be added to the music library, but I think this is a different issue

I would call this distinct as well. The 2nd-gen plugin takes this into account.
Comment 4 Mike Urbanski 2007-02-27 06:09:22 UTC
...It is a dup of Bug 404827 however.

:-) So I'm right and wrong at the same time. :-)
