Description Henrik Brink 2007-02-16 21:17:07 UTC
It would be nice if it was possible to put your tomboy notes on the desktop like sticky notes. Then we could avoid using to different applications doing similar stuff.
Comment 1 Henrik Brink 2007-02-16 21:25:00 UTC
Maybe they should also be shown like sticky notes. Eg. with some fancy graphics making them look like pieces of paper sticked on some refrigerater or something, but keeping the ability to edit them like tomboy notes.

I think an excellent way to unobtrusively implement this, without forcing the users to do so, would be by allowing them to click on the sticky note pad icon on the panel for Tomboy, and then drag the note they want from the drop-down menu to the desktop. This could convert it to a note that is forced under all other windows/icons and stuck to the desktop in plain sight?
Comment 3 Henrik Brink 2007-02-18 18:07:44 UTC
I agree that you should just be able to drag your notes to the desktop to put them there, but I cant see the point in having to click the sticky icon too. I assume you mean the icon that forces the notes to be in the drop down list of Tomboy?

Care to explain your thoughts on that?
Comment 4 cybercyst 2007-02-18 23:13:10 UTC
Well let me clarify. For one, I always didn't use sticky notes, because I would have to minimize all my applications in order to see anything -- so I for one like the current layout of Tomboy.

However, for those who would like such functionality -- I thought dragging from gnome-panel applet for tomboy to the desktop would be a way to indicate that you want certain notes displayed on the desktop.
Comment 5 Henrik Brink 2007-02-18 23:20:39 UTC
Oh... I think we've been talking past eachother.

Bottom line is that we both think dragging a Tomboy note to the desktop could make the note stick there. Other than that, Tomboy should of course work the same way as usual.
