GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 388931
Focus behavior when entering a split is inconvenient and unexpected
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:19:23 UTC
Please describe the problem: When entering a split transaction, the keyboard focus behavior is not what one would expect; entering the first and second lines of a split behave normally, but tabbing "off the end" of the second line focuses the transaction memo rather than the third line (if necessary) of the split. Entering the account local to the register as any line other than the first of the split exacerbates this problem. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new transaction 2. Select "Split" 3. Enter a memo and amount to be debited or credited to the account associated with this register on the first split line, using the keyboard 4. Tab off the "end" of this split line; the second line should be focused with the opposing balance filled in properly. 5. Enter a second memo statement, adjust the balance such that a third split line is necessary. 6. Tab off the end of this split line Actual results: Focus returns to the overall transaction memo field; the next split field balance is filled in properly. Expected results: Focus should follow to the next split field. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:
Related focus issues: bug#344452 (and also bug#344451 bug#344225 bug#342658) - but they are not direct duplicates of the issue you are describing here, are they?
Those bugs are loosely related in that they all involve focus issues, but none of them are this bug. None of them are related to focus traversal within the rows of the register window itself, nor specifically split transactions.
