I can't reproduce this problem. It's very strange.
I think this is related to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376612 I can reproduce it by 1. Remove all current cpufreq applets 2. Add a cpufreq applet 3. Change it's appearence to "Graphics" 4. Add another cpufreq applet The second applet will have the setting of "Graphics and text" but will not display the text and will sit slightly lower than the first one. Also, when the frequency changes the second applet will temporarily occupy some additional space to it's right, as happens when text is shown and frequency changes from, say 1 to 1.66 GHz. If I change the appearance setting of the second applet it will behave normally thereafter. In the bug mentioned there was a comment about that might have been fixed in CVS, so maybe this one is fixed too.
