GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 364719
Play podcasts on-the-fly
Last modified: 2018-05-24 11:58:36 UTC
Both amarok and winamp have the capability to stream podcasts instead of first downloading the complete audio file. I.e. clicking on an entry starts playback immediately. This saves both time (you don't have for the download to finish) and space (the file is not saved to disk permanently, unless you choose "download"). I don't know if I'm the only one, but I don't own a portable audio player, and therefore I'm using the computer to listen to podcasts. Since I rarely listen to a podcast episode more than one time, I do not need rhythmbox to save permanent copies on my hard disk.
+1 needed It's strange, if you download many MB podcast and can't play it even if your download rate is better, than podcast's media rate. It just plays virtual copy of not complete file.

I'd like to support this request. I'm usually downloading longer podcasts but I tend to listen to shorter ones directly. That means that I cannot use Rhythmbox in this case and have to switch to Amarok or Banshee.
