When the screen is locked and you pick the switch option you get a user list, you click the user to switch to then you get the gdm login window where you need to pick the user again and write the password.
It should just ask you for the password for the user you picked and login without going through the gdm window.
Using debian unstable with deblue list gd, theme. So I must pick the user from the list.
