Perhaps this is a bug in vte?

Sorry, I should have included some details in my initial report:

1) I opened Terminal to do some Java development with vim. I spawned it with a hotkey I have mapped to 'gnome-terminal --geometry 80x60 --hide-menubar'.
2) I did not use any of the Terminal menus or configuration; all I did was type a few things into the command line.
3) I typed 'exit' to close the Terminal window.
4) There was a short delay, longer than usual, but less than 0.5 seconds, and then the crash reporter popped up.

I have not yet been able to duplicate the bug. Anything else that would be useful to know?

Confirming as the duplicates.

A good stack trace would be of immense help here!

Can someone among the reporters get us a stack trace with debugging symbols?
Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to
do so. Thanks in advance!

I've installed the gnome-terminal-dbgsyms package now. Waiting for the next crash... :)
Comment 22 Mariano Suárez-Alvarez 2007-01-26 19:37:26 UTC
Installing gnome-terminal, vte and gtk with debugging symbols would maximize the useful information, btw ;-)
Comment 23 Marius Gedminas 2007-01-26 20:13:23 UTC
glib too, I suppose.

Unfortunately, I have libgtk2.0 version 2.10.6-0ubuntu3 from Ubuntu edgy-updates, but the Ubuntu debugsyms are only for the version 2.10.6-0ubuntu1 which is in edgy.

Also, the debug symbols won't help if I cannot reproduce the error.

A crash with debugging symbols here would be nice...

This could be the same style that was over/under ref'ed in bug 351319.

Probably a dup of bug 351319, which is fixed. All dups are <= 2.16, which fits too.
