does this get fixed by enabling "adjust for daylight saving time" in your calendar preferences? probably a duplicate of bug 347772.

"Adjust for daylight saving time" is inactive, so I can't check it. How does evolution determine whether zone is daylight saving or not?
Comment 4 André Klapper 2006-07-28 13:29:08 UTC
sukhbaatar:
does mongolia use daylight saving?
if you choose another timezone (e.g. Europe/Berlin), then edit the setting, and change the timezone back to Asia/Ulaanbaatar, does the time get displayed correctly?

chen, i'd like to get a comment on how evolution determines whether the time zone uses daylight saving or not...
Comment 5 DULMANDAKH Sukhbaatar 2006-07-29 04:49:02 UTC
Yes we do. I filed bug #349078 that fixes Mongolian time zones, Hovd, Ulaanbaatar and Choibalsan ics files. With these fixes we can check Adjust daylight saving time in Calendar preferences, which wasn't available or inactive. By now in Evolution Ulaanbaatar is not daylight saving, and when I'm changed time zone to Asia/Irkutsk, which is dayligh saving, time remained unchanged and incorrect.

Sukhbaatar, if I understand you correctly, applying the patches in bug 349078 fixes this issue, and appointments are displayed correctly (after enabling the "Adjust for daylight saving time" option) ?

If this is the case, this bug and bug 349078 are actually the same issue. (Read, if fixing bug 349078 already fixes this bug too, it does not depend on the other one, but is a dupe.) Marking this bug as a duplicate, since bug 349078 got the necessary fixes already. Thanks for the patches! :)

If I did not understand your last comment correctly, and you seriosuly believe both bugs are valid and different, please feel free to re-open this bug.

Also... Sukhbaatar (hope, that's the correct name to call you), are you the brave guy who went all the way from Mongolia to Spain, to attend GUADEC? :-)
Comment 8 DULMANDAKH Sukhbaatar 2006-07-30 03:44:33 UTC
Call me Dulmandakh, it's my given name, and I was at GUADEC. Yep my patch is correcting the issue, so I can make appointment and it's diplayed correcty in gnome-panel or calendar. It's my first patch to GNOME :) and it works. GUADEC really motivated me, I'll do more for GNOME and its community.
