Description Colin Macdonald 2006-06-30 22:34:25 UTC
A file with a long name is shortened with ellipses in the "replace file" dialog. Of course extremely long file names might need to be shortened but my file was 26 characters which doesn't strike me as ridiculously long.

I will attach a screenshot to demonstrate.

Perhaps if the dialog box were made resizeable? And were allowed to open itself in a wider view.

Maybe this can be considered during the redesign in #47893

The actual file being overwritten was:
/home/cbm/work/phdthesis/phdprop/sys_discts_cfl1_t1_be.eps

Also, if you going to throw away part of a path/filename, then the /home/cbm part if probably the *least important* to keep.
