Description Dimitrios 2006-06-21 09:18:36 UTC
The TIF specification offers support for multiple pages within the same document.

Some applications like Hylafax support TIFs with multiple pages: a fax of 5 pages is saved as a single TIF file which contains 5 pages, one for each fax page.

GIMP loads them fine and shows each page as a layer.

Since EOG is the default application for opening the TIF images under GNOME, it would be nice if it fully supported TIFs.

Thank you.

Comment 2 Adam Buchbinder 2006-07-17 20:08:36 UTC
Note that TIFF files containing multiple images can also be multi-layered images; in this case, all layers should display simultaneously, moved to their proper layer offsets. See Bug 345883 for a sample TIFF file of this type.

As this is broken behaviour, is there not a case for raising severity? See http://static.wayforth.co.uk/20060710164155.tif for an example of the type of file that exhibits problems. NB It displays and prints properly in evince.

multipage tiff, in fax standard
Comment 7 Stefano Giunchi 2009-06-12 15:32:15 UTC
I confirm this behaviour. I attached an example.
Comment 8 Felix Riemann 2009-06-15 10:06:11 UTC
This requires support for such images in gdk-pixbuf's TIFF loader.

Adding dependency.
Comment 9 Rolf Leggewie 2010-05-21 12:45:06 UTC
I can confirm the problem

Comment 11 André Klapper 2021-06-19 08:47:14 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/eog/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
