GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 342468
netapplet crashes on adsl startup
Last modified: 2006-05-22 19:40:05 UTC
Distribution: SUSE 10.0 Package: netapplet Severity: Normal Version: GNOME2.12.0 unspecified Gnome-Distributor: SUSE Synopsis: netapplet crashes on adsl startup Bugzilla-Product: netapplet Bugzilla-Component: applet Bugzilla-Version: unspecified BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.12.0) Description: Description of the crash: Installed roaring penguin pppoe manager (rp-pppoe, from yast, SUSE 10 DVD). A service "adsl" has been configured to start at runlevel 3/5. When GNOME is started up, after a few seconds a popup notifies netapplet unexpected shutdown and asks for restart. Restarting the applet results in further crash, and so on. Tried to disable adsl service: netapplet starts up correctly until i try to issue adsl-start (in root mode). Just when i get connected, netapplet crashes. Even tried to prevent GNOME from loading netapplet, but i've found no way to do it. Steps to reproduce the crash: 1. install rp-pppoe packet 2. from yast/runlevel editor, set adsl service to starttup at RL 3/5 3. reboot Expected Results: How often does this happen? each time adsl link gets up Additional Information: configured interface dsl0 with yast, mode: pppoe, not working. Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/opt/gnome/bin/netapplet' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".
