GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 340053
Message list message does not match preview pane message
Last modified: 2008-06-27 17:12:09 UTC
Please describe the problem: The From, Subject and Date of some messages in the messages list are displayed incorrectly. When such erroneous entry is highlited, the message window shows the correct data. The erroneous data in the top part seems to be taken from a previously deleted mail. Mailbox is "maildir" format, mail comes from a local MTA (qmail). Linux is Fedora Core 5. With the previous version (Core 4, Evolution 2.2/Gnome 2.10) there was no such problem. To verify the problem, all Evolution was shut down, all meta data was removed from the maildir (leaving just messages files), then Evolution was restarted. After some activity (receiving/reading/deleting mails) the problem re-appeared. There are no filters configured. No unclean shutdowns or system hangs during this time. Steps to reproduce: 1. Install GNOME desktop, configure Evolution with local maildir. 2. Receive some mail, read, delete, send. 3. In 1-2 or two days the problem appears. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information: A screenshot is available, can it be attached?

After not experiencing this bug in FC6, I thought it was gone. Alas, after moving to FC8 it re-appeared after last update of Evolution (version 2.12.2, RPM build is 3). The bug is still the same (wrong sumamry in the to panel), Linux is FC8, mail box is local maildir format served by Qmail. Shutting down Evo, removing all Evo-related files (.cmeta, .ev-summary, .ev-summary-meta, .ibex.index, .ibex.index.data) and staring it up (even combine dwith purging the Trash to make it move files to actual folders) did not help. Screenshot attached.

I think it's the same issue as bug 533122 thus marking as DUP. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 533122 ***
