GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 339675
Add option to Include signature in new messages only
Last modified: 2018-01-08 17:55:49 UTC
I would like to be able to NOT add a signature when I reply to someone's mail. I only would like to see signatures added to new mails I compose.
different from bug 229117. bad summary. ;-) please use "mailer" when it's about the mailer, thanks in advance. :-)
I prefer there would be separate settings for both as it is in outlook. 1. Signature for new mail and 2. Signature for reply/forward mail) So that one can set their signature only for new mail and not for reply/forward mail at all or can set another signature for reply/forward mail.

I would like to request this enhancement as well.
+1 for this request enhacement, thanks.
I added Edit->Preferences->Composer Preferences->General tab->Include signature in new messages only, which is off by default (no change from current behaviour). Once enabled, reply and forward messages do not add signature unless explicitly picked from the signature combo box on the right of the From combo. Created commit a7194c3 in evo master (3.25.4+)
A user reported [1] that the option doesn't always work. It turned out that when the account was the default account (or preselected in the composer after it had been opened), then the signature had not been removed from the message body. It's fixed with the below change: Created commit 84a2fef832 in evo master (3.27.90+) Created commit ca1ce3e5b9 in evo gnome-3-26 (3.26.5+)
