GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 229117
Signature is not removed when replying to an EMail
Last modified: 2017-02-09 13:39:31 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Normal Version: 1.0.8 Synopsis: Signature is not removed when replying to an EMail Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Mailer Description: Description of Problem: When I reply to an EMail which contains a signature (introduced by "-- " and a newline), the signature is not removed. I write my EMails in plain text. The text when replying is qouted inline and prefixed with a "> ". It would be nice, when the signature is removed automatically. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. select an email with a signature 2. press the "reply" button 3. look at the end: the signature is still there, correctly prefixed Actual Results: Signature is qouted. Expected Results: Signature should not be quoted. How often does this happen? always Additional Information: Setting qa contact to the default for this product. This bug either had no qa contact or an invalid one.
It might make sense to mark the old signature with data so that the composer could easily recognize and remove it. But that is a feature and we are frozen. Marking future.
I would like to ask about the status for resolving this request, as the last comment (from more then 4 years ago) suggested a way to address this issue but deferred the solution for a future date. So my question - are we in the future yet ? ;-)
Seems to have been fixed in the meantime
GtkHtml is not under active development anymore. Evolution (its main consumer) switched to a WebKit backend a while ago. It is currently unlikely that there will be any further GtkHtml development. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping (bug 778387) to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
