GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 338680
Fast user switching-applet not switching users in an expected manner.
Last modified: 2006-04-17 12:32:50 UTC
When I click on the fast user switching-applet, I get a list of users on that computer. The expected behavior of the applet is that when I click on a user, it prompts me for that users password, and after I have succesfully entered the password, I'm taken to that users desktop. Currently that does not happen. When I click on an user on the list, I'm taken to GDM, where I have to AGAIN tell the system which user I want to log in as. After I have entered the username and the password, I'm taken to that users desktop. As things are right now, there's no real point in displaying a list of users on the applet. I could click on user A on that list, and when I'm presented with GDM, I could log in as user B instead. The optimal solution would be that the system simply asks for the selected users password, without going through the GDM. Only time when the applet works as expected is when the users are already logged in to the machine. Other information:
