Description Alan Horkan 2006-04-03 00:38:22 UTC
Druids are no more, GTK calls them Assistants (like Mac OS) and in the Ubuntu preview (dapper drake, flight 5) the dialog title already says Assistant.
(Bug 329761 already covers trying reduce/remove the need to show the Assistant at startup, this bug is merely to address the labellling.)

The Druid nomclature had always bothered me since it was a bastardisation of Wizard which wasn't a great metaphor to begin with. I took a look at the source but the task of changing all references of Druid to Assistant was far far larger than I realised.

You don't need to change all the references... only those appearing in a text presented to the user.

I accept "diff -ur" patches :-)

patch to change Druid to asssistant

diff -ur doesn't work
diff -uR does work (I usually add -w as well)

here is a patch for starters, not sure where else the term Druid appears
if you could commit this soon I might have time to also make sure the English localisations are up to date. (I assume other languages ignored the "Druid" naming scheme and used something more intelligable.)

We're in string freeze as far as I know... waiting eagerly for the branching.
Comment 4 Jan Schampera 2006-09-10 15:19:47 UTC
Just to keep up-to-date, there's also GtkAssistant, we use (since 2.10). I'll have a look at it.

Comment 5 Jan Schampera 2006-09-10 15:20:26 UTC
Sorry... I mean: we CAN use
Comment 6 Snark 2006-09-10 18:26:08 UTC
Yes, we also have a bug report on killing libegg, which will have the same fate.
