Description Dave Malcolm 2006-01-13 20:45:40 UTC
e-d-s can store a "self" contact, accessible via e_book_get_self.

There are several areas where the integration could be improved.

When creating an account:
When creating an account, it would be nice if there was a set of radio options at the top of the Identity page:

(*) Configure my home email address
( ) Configure my work email address
( ) Configure another email address

Evolution could then query e_book_get_self. If it exists, then prepopulate the name and email address based on the home/work address.

Upon completion of the account wizard, evolution could:
(i) if the "self" contact doesn't exist, create it
(ii) if home/work was selected on the Identity page, write the email address into the "self" contact.

I think it's a good idea. Is it simple enough to be marked gnome-love bug ?

Re comment #1: I'm not sure about the complexity, sorry.

Bumping version to a stable release.
Comment 4 André Klapper 2021-05-19 11:09:10 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
