Please describe the problem:
When using a colorful theme, a background image or transparent panel, each icon
in the notification area gets a grey background, and there is ~1 pixel spacing
between each tray icons, which makes the whole thing look very ugly.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
Most of the other applets can already display a transparent background properly.
Why can't the notification area do it too? This is a honest question, I just
want to know if there are technical limitations here.
