Description Jakub Steiner 2006-01-09 15:03:51 UTC
I am really missing some sort of grouping functionality. I usually have numerous
duplicates from shooting burst. I do not want to throw out the images. I don't
want to remove these duplicates from the library, yet I'd like to hide some.
ideally the UI should allow me to

  * Pick a favorite, have that visible in the browser
  * Allow me to see all members of such group/stack to change my mind and pick a
better shot in future

In the short term I would really kill for the possibility to at least pick a
selection of images and "mark as versions". That would give me something close
to the desired functionality.

One issue I can think of with using the exising version system to add this functionality is that if you mark a photo as a version of another, then you edit it, I believe F-Spot will allow you to directly edit the original, instead of creating a new version to work off of (since F-Spot would consider it to be modified already since it's not the default version).

I think the stack idea is good, but I'm not sure yet how to implement both versions and stacks side by side in a not confusing way.

Jakub, what is the difference between this bug and bug #311550?
Comment 3 Jakub Steiner 2006-01-29 20:18:49 UTC
Eeek, I'm senile.
