GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 325611
strings in e-itip-control.c need translator comments
Last modified: 2013-09-13 00:59:25 UTC
be aware of the fact that not all languages use subject-verb-object positioning, and please add the entire sentence as a translator comment so the meaning is understandable. http://developer.gnome.org/doc/tutorials/gnome-i18n/developer.html#use-comments #: ../calendar/gui/e-itip-control.c:796 #, c-format msgid "The %s day of " #: ../calendar/gui/e-itip-control.c:809 #, c-format msgid "The %s %s of " #: ../calendar/gui/e-itip-control.c:840 msgid ", ending on " #: ../calendar/gui/e-itip-control.c:864 msgid "Starts" #: ../calendar/gui/e-itip-control.c:877 msgid "Ends" note that adding comments to translatable strings must not be announced according to http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2005-February/msg00092.html.
The above mentioned cases overlap the cases mentioned in bug 261980.
The patch submitted by me for the bug 261980 covers all the cases mentioned above.
Fixed by Ushveen's patch.
Thank you for the comments provided so far. I see that the first two still don't give any comments to help the translators. I guess those while translating. For the last two the current comments are these: #. For Translators : 'starts' is starts:date implying a task starts on what date #: ../calendar/gui/e-itip-control.c:907 msgid "Starts" #. For Translators : 'ends' is ends:date implying a task ends on what date #: ../calendar/gui/e-itip-control.c:921 I'm afraid I really don't understand them, so I'm reopening the bug for these two messages.
I also don't get these sentences. Reopening.
Created commit 64f2b1e in evo master (2.27.6+) These should work slightly better, I hope. > 'Starts' is part of "Starts: date", showing when the event starts > 'Ends' is part of "Ends: date", showing when the event ends Nonetheless, I expect the whole file being dropped some time soon anyway, thus this done for the time being, at least.
