Description Yaron Tausky 2005-12-23 22:21:46 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Whenever I change something in the tasklist view (reorder the tabs, sort them,
add new ones or remove some) and exit Evolution, the changes are reverted the
next time I fire it up.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Switch to the Tasks component
2. Remove one of the tabs, reorder them, etc.
3. Exit Evolution
4. Start Evolution

Actual results:
The changes I made are reverted.

Expected results:
The changes should remain.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Other information:
I first noticed this bug after a recent bug in this component made me re-arrange
the columns. An upgrade resolved that bug, but now I'm stuck with only one
column -- the one with the icon...

By "tabs", do you mean columns with "Summary", "% Complete", etc?

I followed your steps to reproduce the bug. It works fine for me (I got the expected results). I'm running evolution-2.4.2.1.

What version of Evolution are you using?
Comment 2 Yaron Tausky 2005-12-24 21:18:47 UTC
Yes, that's what I meant.
Perhaps it's just my preferences file that got corrupted due to the bug I mentioned (searched for it, it's bug #323042)? Where are these things saved? I'll try to spot the offending file, if it is indeed a corrupted settings file...
Comment 3 Yaron Tausky 2006-01-07 10:18:56 UTC
Okay, it seems that the fault is mine: the instructions I gave weren't accurate enough. Everything is okay if you use the right-click menu's 'Add a Column...' option, or sort by clicking on the relevant column header. However, changes made with the right-click menu's 'Customize Current View...' dialogue are indeed discarded.

So, the proper steps to reproduce:
1. Switch to the Tasks component
2. Right click on tab/column headings.
3. From the popup menu, select "Customize Current View..."
4. Remove one of the tabs, reorder them, etc.
5. Exit Evolution
6. Start Evolution

I can confirm this on evolution-2.4.2.1.
