Patch for "Copy Key Name" bug (1.38 KB, patch)

none Details | Review

Description Joachim Noreiko 2005-12-05 21:19:35 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu 5.10

Text in the key documentation pane can be selected with the mouse.
But pressing CTRL-C when text is selected places the key path on the clipboard.

Eg:
I get this: /apps/nautilus/desktop/trash_icon_visible
I would expect to get this: If this is set to true, an icon linking to the
wastebasket will be put on the desktop.

CTRL-C should copy the key name when the other panes have focus.
Comment 1 Fernando Herrera 2006-01-30 06:09:21 UTC
Control-C as the menu says does copy the key path. If you want to copy the doc text you should use the mouse right button.
Comment 2 Joachim Noreiko 2006-01-30 08:51:56 UTC
My point is that I disagree with that behaviour. Control-C should always copy what is selected.

Overriding standard shortcuts is not a good idea in my opinion...
Comment 6 Fabio Durán Verdugo 2010-12-13 04:14:52 UTC
any news for this bug, or can mark with obsolete for dconf?

Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE after 6 weeks.
Comment 7 Robert Roth 2011-06-03 08:05:31 UTC
This still happens with gconf-editor 2.32.0 and the code in the git repo still is the same for control C, so it's not fixed. This should be reopened.
Comment 8 André Klapper 2018-07-01 08:40:35 UTC
gconf-editor is not under active development anymore and has not seen code changes for six years.
Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/gconf-editor/commits/master

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
