Description Martin-Éric Racine 2005-10-10 14:55:18 UTC
Please describe the problem:
The gantt chart doesn't have alternating row colors making it quite hard
to see what task listet on the left corresponds to which bar in the
gantt chart.

Steps to reproduce:

Does this happen every time?

Other information:
This is an old bug report remaining in the Debian BTS.

It probably was fixed already but I'm hereby polling the upstream authors to
verify. If it's fixed, I will close the corresponding bugs in the Debian BTS.

Non-working days are already shown in an alternative colour in the Gantt chart.
Therefore I don't think that also alternating row colours in the Gantt chart
will bring clarity. Au contraire ...

An alternative approach might be to just highlight the currently selected task
in Gantt chart as well. This limits the visual overhead while still solving the
problem I think. What do others think?

There needs to be a way to discern at one glance to what a task on the left,
in the task view corresponds to on the right, in the gant chart. At the moment
it is not evident and one will possibly need a ruler or a paper to find out
so, when there are many task close by.

I still think that alternating colours or lines would be useful - I guess it's
a question of tuning the colour values to the right shade, that doesn't get on
ones nerves and doesn't distract but is just visible enough to serve as a
ruler. But whatever makes the chart more intuitively understandable is fine.

This seems to be similar to Bug 303374, maybe this one should be a duplicate?
Comment 4 Kurt Maute 2006-05-20 02:01:37 UTC
