Description Cameron Meadors 2005-07-28 16:03:07 UTC
After performing a search, the results are listed in Icon view. They should be
displayed in List view.
Comment 1 Christian Neumair 2005-07-28 18:11:21 UTC
Thanks for your bug report! Unfortunately, I'm unable to figure out what search
framework you are talking about. Are you referring to gnome-search-tool? Are you
using Ubuntu unstable and playing around with beagle?
Thanks for your convenience!
Comment 2 Brent Smith (smitten) 2005-07-28 19:15:45 UTC
bug 311871 points out that this was probably meant to be filed against the
nautilus search branch, which doesn't seem to have any presence in bugzilla.
Comment 3 Christian Neumair 2005-07-28 20:09:10 UTC
Yup, we now have it. Thanks for pointing this out.
Comment 4 Stefano Teso 2011-03-08 09:46:40 UTC
Cameron: why should the results be shown in list view? Could you explain the rationale behind your request?

This may be related to bug 374661.
Comment 5 Cosimo Cecchi 2011-03-31 20:07:05 UTC
I think we should do better but list view might not be the only solution.
Comment 6 André Klapper 2011-10-05 09:02:07 UTC
Still valid in 3.2.0.
Comment 7 Paolo Borelli 2012-08-13 13:07:39 UTC
This is even more important now that search is much more promiment in the UI.

The list of matches should make clear from which dir each file comes from
Comment 8 Adam Dingle 2013-07-11 18:54:33 UTC
Note that the user can already toggle the search results between icon and list views. In my opinion that's adequate. If I search in icon view the search results display icons by default, which may be useful if I'm searching for icons or other images. But I can switch to list view to see each result's location or other metadata.

So I think there's nothing to do here.
Comment 9 Allan Day 2014-08-14 00:07:08 UTC
It's important to use list view now that we recursively search - you need to to know the directory where search results are located, and this is only visible when results are shown as a list.
Comment 10 Allan Day 2014-09-19 12:47:38 UTC
3.14 is over - move to the 3.16 target milestone.
