GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 311208
all PDF thumbnails end up transparent
Last modified: 2005-07-31 16:07:30 UTC
With the latest ppopler/evince, whenever I save a PDF file, it ends up with an icon of a completely transparent page (ie, a page-shaped hollow rectangle that I can see the desktop through, although I can still click on the "transparent" part and it does select the icon).
Could be related to bug 311228?
> whenever I save a PDF file What do you mean? Or you actually meant open a PDF file?
And is this reproducable with a particular pdf file or with any of them?
What gtk version? Do you get warnings on the console?
> What do you mean? Or you actually meant open a PDF file? Sorry, I'm talking about the nautilus icon thumbnails, not the sidebar thumbnails within evince. So I did mean "save". (I don't use the sidebar in evince, so I don't know if it happens there too, and I can't check because it happens on my home PC and I'm at work right now.) > And is this reproducable with a particular pdf file or with any of them? It appears to be reproducible with any pdf file. In particular, if I make a copy of an old PDF file that evince previously thumbnailed fine, then the copy ends up with a transparent icon. > What gtk version? Do you get warnings on the console? Ah, gtk 2.6.something. That may be the problem? Not sure about warnings because they'd be going to nautilus's stdout I guess. I can check .xsession-errors when I get home...
I think there were some changes wrt. alpha handling when real text selection was implemented in poppler
Found it. The bug is in the non-cairo glib code in poppler. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3935
