GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 309703
When editing a launcher it forgets previously entered values
Last modified: 2018-01-02 18:48:15 UTC
Please describe the problem: When I want to edit a launcher, to both change the _name_ of the launcher and the _path_ to the program it executes, I have to enter values on two tabs: "Basic" and "Launcher" from the properties editor. When I enter the name first in basic and confirm, and then move to the launcher tab, it forgets the previously entered name Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a launcher object with name "psi" 2. Open the properties editor and change the name to "psa" 3. Without closing the properties editor, move to the "Launcher" tab. The name is forgotten. Actual results: The "Launcher" tab clears the data I entered in other tabs. Expected results: After I change the name of the launcher object in "Basic" and confirm entering "Enter", the name should be fixed, even if I move to other tabs. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information: This is running gnome 2.10.1 in Ubuntu 5.04
Confirmed. Maybe we shouldn't allow the same property to be changed from two different tabs?
Ah, this is with the nautilus properties dialog. Moving to nautilus. (and I can still reproduce in 2.14.0)
Still valid.

Starting with version 3.28, nautilus will not handle the "files on desktop background" feature. For better alternatives, read this blog post https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2017/12/21/nautilus-desktop-plans/
