Description ximian 2004-12-03 13:01:49 UTC
Description of Problem:
When a contact already exists, it is useful to be able to add a new
email address to that user (or a phone number/address: another RFE?).

Steps to reproduce the problem:
For example: I have a contact:
John A. Smith

and an email comes from a
John A Smith

right click on email address in order to add to existing contact:
Actual Results:
then the match is not made, so the choice is not given to add the email
address to the existing contact, only to create a new one.

Desired Results:
offered choice of a (fuzzy) search for similar names to add the email
address to. This list could be sorted with best matches towards top, and
greatly facilitate augmenting contact information.

How often does this happen?
always

You can add a new contact (enter name) and then you will automatically be asked for merging.
This fixes the issue of adding a new mail address to an existing contact. Your proposal to have the user directly say "the contact exists already" by having a seperate menu entry for this sounds okay, but this will not be implemented.
