GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 268024
QuickRef incorrect about clear search bar shortcut
Last modified: 2013-09-13 00:47:39 UTC
the quickref (help / quick reference) says ctrl+shift+b will clear the search bar. This is incorrect. ctrl+shift+q does.
still valid in evolution-2.2.0.0.200503210410-0.snap.ximian.10.1, retargetting to 2.3. the quick reference pdf should become i18nized (=translated), by the way. but don't know how... ctrl+shift+b opens a dialog for a new addressbook.
this is located in cvs in /evolution/help/quickref/C
this is not the only bug in that pdf, there are more wrong accelerators, typos, the "ximian" should be removed and the "could not be implemented, depends on your evolution version" is also uselesss nowadays, and "Shift+Ctrl" and "Ctrl+Shift" are both used. :-( i'm currently writing on a patch for this and will send it within the next 72hrs to evolution-patches mailing list. besides, this one should be localized, similar to the "welcome message" (see bug 206066).
Created attachment 47819 [details] [review] patch for the tex file pdf files are binary and cannot be diffed, so only tex file attached :-) also sent to e-p
for the records: filed bug 307856 about the missing localization of the quick reference.
and please use my patch to also fix <http://www.gnome.org/projects/evolution/keys.shtml>, it's the same buggy old stuff. :-)
I haven't worked on the Quick Reference Card, this is something the new writer will have to look at.
mark: sorry, this is ridiculous. you do not have to work on it, the patch i have provided is *ready* to commit, harish set this to "accepted-commit_now" already. so what do you have to look at? just commit...! do we want a totally obsolete, wrong (at least 5 shortcuts are totally wrong) quick reference for a third release cycle? oh man... sorry. :-/ this isn't meant personally, but it's just VERY BAD looking for anybody taking a look into the quickref.
I will look at it and see what I can do. I don't think we orginally wrote this piece, so we may not have the source.
hmm. ok. but what do you mean by "having the source"? it's all in gnome cvs; see my patch above. i just do not have permission to commit. we could also discuss this in #evolution on irc currently. :-)
dobey or jpr are both on irc, guess they are both able to commit. but really thanks for your effort, in comment #8 i was just a bit pissed because i talked to jessica (novell india) last week and she assured that this would get in into 2.4. :-) see you...
ok, the pdf is committed to cvs (thanks harish, thanks mark), the tex file still needs to be committed. later, 2.5.
tex file committed => fixed, thanks
comment #6 also done. perfect. :-)
