Description Rodd Clarkson 2004-03-12 01:38:15 UTC
Description of Problem:

The contact editor should be adjusted to allow better handling of
relationships.

Currently, the only relationship you can easily enter (not in notes) is
your spouse, and the Anniversary date.

I propose that this is changed to allow multiple relations to be added with
a relation to each line asking for the following information.

Persons Name
Relationship to Person
Birthday
Anniversary (if relevant)

Finally, is should be possible to link these people to their contact file
in Evolution, so an option for this should be available (and probably a
link their contact details in the contact previw).

anniversary exists.

bug 263248 is a subset of this.
Comment 2 Rodd Clarkson 2005-08-23 11:59:44 UTC
does this now mean that bug #234991 is a subset of this?

I think it's important to think beyond marital/family relationships and take
this future.

For example, Person Assistant is a type of relationship that may well be very
important to some people in terms of keeping track of this stuff. But currently
this is handled in a different section and you can only write the person's name
in. Really this is the sort of thing that you should be able to 'hyperlink' so
that you add both the person and their PA and then link the two (one as boss,
one as PA) allowing much better access to information. This is just one example.
