GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 236532
Jump to current message button
Last modified: 2006-03-30 01:18:09 UTC
Description of Problem: If the currently selected message isn't visible in the message pane, there is no way to go directly to it, you have to scroll around looking which can be a pain if the list is long (as in a mailing list with thousands of messages). A button on the toolbar that jumps to the current message would be useful. I found you can work around this now by clicking the previous message button followed by the next message button which causes the current message to be displayed, but a "home" button between the two would be nice.
And a 'Go to->Selected message' in menu
Other applications such as iTunes and Rhythmbox have a keyboard shortcut (Control-J) to accomplish the same. Evolution also has something vaguely similar in the Calendar component: Select Today (Control-Alt-T). Ideally this feature would also be easily accessible from the keyboard, and my vote would be for Control-J since that's the binding I expect based on experience with other applications.
control+j is junk now, which is more appropriate. as a workaround, set focus to the message list by using e.g. F6, and then use once "arrow up" and once "arrow down". this could be a GAL bug.
i really think this is fixed now. Am sure srini was doing something with this issue. Adding Srini to the CC list
