Standard images sent as attachments work fine. The white boxes are
seen in HTML mail that includes image links. They need to download
images from a web server before they're visible. This is used by
spammers to confirm that you've received their mail, generally slows
mail rendering, and doesn't work well with offline mail reading unless
the images are downloaded when the mail is downloaded, which can
increase mail download times significantly. For all these reasons,
image loading is off by default. The inability to save the image is a
function of it not having been downloaded (though in this context the
option to save should probably not be available).

If you want to turn on image loading, you can select View > Message
Display > Load Images in the menus in the main Evolution window.

Granted, this interface isn't terribly intuitive. There's already a
bug on that. I'm closing this one as a duplicate of that one.

ah, I didn't notice that you had already submitted a bug.

can you attach a sample message to this bug report?
Comment 3 clowater 2002-10-20 23:41:15 UTC
Tried attaching a message, but there was nothing to attach.
To describe the problem...

"The first emails I sent you the images pasted directly in the body of
the email. The last one I sent as an attachment. Perhaps you email
application can't view pictures in an email?... I've sent them to you
like that before, so maybe it's a linux thing."

I could forward an email to you if that would help?

just above the comments section, there is a link that says "Create new
attachment". If you could click that and attach a sample message, it
would be great.

thanks
