Comment 5 André Klapper 2005-03-08 14:42:50 UTC
link is broken... :-(
Comment 6 Sushma Rai 2005-08-23 12:48:36 UTC
What are the "hintable" texts or entries?
I don't see any in current contact editor..

Mua-ha-ha-HAHAHAHA :-))
Comment 8 Karsten Bräckelmann 2006-01-08 03:26:09 UTC
Too bad, can't close this one. It really still is valid. REOPENing. Punting version from 1.4.x (seriously) to 2.4.x.

Steps to reproduce:
* Have a Contact in any Address Book, use the Card view, with at least one entry
that is longer than the width of the card column.
If need be, decrease the width of the column.
* Place the mouse over the entry that is more wide than the column.
You will get a grey box, larger than the column, displaying the full contents.
* Now use Ctrl-F1 To switch to the Mail component.
Do not touch or move the mouse.

Results:
* That text in the grey box is still there.

Reproducible: always
Comment 9 Karsten Bräckelmann 2006-01-08 03:36:41 UTC
Additional Information:

* This is an issue, when switching Evo components.
* This is an issue, when using accelerators to minimize/maximize the window.

* This is *not* an issue, when using accelerators to switch the workspace.

This bug does not apply to Contacts only. It is the very same for Calendar, for example. Setting Coponent to Miscellaneous for now. Probably a GTK+ bug, rather than an Evo one.

Thanks for 10 incredibly amusing minutes. :)

Comment 11 Karsten Bräckelmann 2006-01-15 01:21:21 UTC
See duplicate bug 326645 (especially attachment 57171 [details]) for yet another way to reproduce this -- in a more severe way.
Comment 12 Srinivasa Ragavan 2006-01-15 08:45:34 UTC
The second part of the problem (comment #11) is more severe, and i've fixed it and will be in cvs soon. The first part,is a GAL issue and not a GTK Issue. The EText tooltips is designed in a way to have the tooltip window under the mouse and when the mouse moves away, hide it. Pretty bad design :(
Comment 13 Karsten Bräckelmann 2006-01-15 15:52:57 UTC
Doh! So, bug 326645 actually is not a dupe? Sorry for that, feel free to reopen.
Comment 14 Karsten Bräckelmann 2006-01-15 17:37:14 UTC
Restoring previous Severity, Target Milestone, etc. as appropriate for this issue.
Comment 15 Srinivasa Ragavan 2006-01-15 18:05:03 UTC
hmm, kinda fixed it. Added key listener to the window, so that tooltip would hide. But still, at some rare occations it may happen again. If you normally use it, you may not see it at all, unless you play around to reproduce the bug :).

I would suggest to try around the fix and close/hold the bug appropiately. (Fix is in HEAD)
Comment 16 André Klapper 2012-02-10 12:53:51 UTC
Pressing Ctrl makes tooltips vanish in 3.2.3. Not sure how to retest this.
Comment 17 André Klapper 2012-08-09 12:38:36 UTC
Still valid, see bug 672285.

Comment 19 Milan Crha 2016-02-23 15:07:31 UTC
The calendar part had been fixed within bug #607753 and I cannot reproduce the other things with it too, thus I'm closing this one as a duplicate of the other. Tested with git master (Development) version of the evolution, after the 3.19.90 release).
