GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 218022
Filter by attachment filename
Last modified: 2021-05-19 11:45:31 UTC
I'd like to be able to run a filter that filters based on attachment filename. I think this would be most useful for thwarting viruses and throwing them straight into the Trash instead of my mailboxes.
adding "filters" keyword
<kjetilho> andre_: that really needs to be special cased, since attachment names are RFC 2231 encoded <kjetilho> also, it can be implemented much more efficiently by an IMAP backend if it know it should only look at the Content-Disposition headers :)

DO WANT. I want the ability to filter all those mails containing *.pps (powerpoint) attachments and either delete them automatically or auto-reply with a template/canned message. I get a lot of those, and the kind of people who send them just keep sending them, no matter how much you remind them that you don't want them...

This still would be very vital thing to implement. Is there any progress on this issue?
I have a large number of messages with attachments, and want to search for a message with an attachment called (say) LonelySong.mp3. Searching on "Message contains" doesn't find the attachment.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new enhancement request ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
