GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 171347
dual-screen: workspace-switching with keyboard hangs
Last modified: 2005-07-29 17:28:11 UTC
Distribution/Version: FC3 I have the feeling that these issues are connected to each other. I'm not filing individual bugs because of that. I have a dual screen setup. I have enabled sloppy focus. The thing is, that when on the other (be it the first or the second) screen there's no window on the desktop, metacity doesn't "switch" to the other screen when I move the mouse there. I have to click on it. I try to describe all issues one for one: Common situation: 2 screens, 8 workspaces each. 1. empty workspace on both screens. 1st screen active. Move mouse to second screen. Switch workspaces with keyboard. Result: workspaces are switched on the first screen. Mouse is moved in upper left corner of first screen. 2. empty workspace on both screens. 1st screen active. Move mouse to second screen. Click on desktop on second screen. Use workspace switcher shortcuts. Result: After the first switch _to_ an empty workspace the borderless workspace switcher window thing in the middle of the screen hangs, i.e. keyboard is grabbed, ws switch shortcuts do nothing. Click with the mouse anywhere to release. ws switch borderless thingie disappears. This only happens on the 2nd screen. 3. workspaces with full screen windows on both screens. 1st screen active. Click on desktop in 2nd screen to activate. /me sees a pattern Hmm, it seems that whenever I switch to an empty workspace on the second screen, the second screen "loses" focus, and the first screen gets activated. That's why the ws switch shortcuts don't do anything - they go to the first screen. Let me know if you need more information. This is metacity version 2.8.6-2 from fedora core 3. I can apply patches and stuff.
