Patch in bug #168578 might help here.
the submitter doesn't get the issue again (without patching), should we close the bug ?
Other Ubuntu users are getting similar crashes too. See bug #171753 and bug #171556.

Seeing this in Fedora too: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=156633
Mark: it'd be great if you could find time to make a RPM with the patch in bug 168578 for the fedora bug reporter.

I could reproduce here with a pathological case and I seemed to have fixed with: 2005-05-04 Mark McLoughlin <mark@skynet.ie> Fix crasher with recent items menu - bug #170660 * egg-recent-model.c: (egg_recent_model_changed_timeout): set timeout id to zero. (egg_recent_model_finalize): remove the timeout if it is still around. Fix is in: - libegg HEAD - gnome-panel HEAD (will be 2.11.1) - gnome-panel gnome-2-10 branch (will be 2.10.2) - gnome-panel-2.10.1-9 in Fedora rawhide

I'm a newbie... I had this problem with Gnome Panel. Is there someone who could explain me how to resolve it? Thank you much! Now the only solution I found is to digit in shell the following line: rm /.recently-used But after a lot of time, the problem appears again!
