Description Josh Lee 2005-02-28 21:02:20 UTC
The location bar dropdown only shows up when you type stuff in. If you mis-click
and make it go away, or if you paste something and want to search with it, then
there is no easy way to get to it.

1. When you paste something in the location bar, it should show the dropdown.
2. There should be a down-arrow on the right side so you can show it.

Showing the drop-down is gtk+ bug 165714.

Normally, a down-arrow next to an entry means to show a list of previously
entered things, not completions...

Hmm. I still say it's silly that if I misclick, the only way to show the search
drop-down again is to type and erase a letter.

Here's a thought. Instead of search bookmarks showing up in the autocompletion
list, make a button, kinda like the ones for bookmark topics. It would say
"Search" and when you click on it, it opens a menu containing all your searches.
Clicking on one would search for whatever is in the addressbar. Nevermind that's
not very good. But it might be, with some refinements.

Josh, your suggestion is essentially the same as bug 112732, I think. The autocompletion now opens when you paste something, with the latest GTK. Can we close this bug?

Sure.
