GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 165148
Folders opened in Places menu not on top
Last modified: 2005-01-25 20:47:52 UTC
Please describe the problem: Opening folders in Places menu doesn't open the folder on top if you have just interacted with another application. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open gedit 2. Type some text 3. Go to Places menu and click on Home Actual results: The Home folder window is beneath the gedit window Expected results: The Home folder window should be above the gedit window Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
cc'ing the Elijah, aka the Focus Master.
$prefix/share/applications/nautilus-home.desktop does not contain "StartupNotify=true". That file is maintained under nautilus, so this is actually a nautilus bug. In general, if apps like nautilus, gnome-terminal, mozilla, epiphany (i.e. ones that request a previously running instance to open a new window instead of opening one themselves and thus only ever have one instance running) aren't getting focus when launched from the panel it is because either a) The application isn't being launched with startup-notification (the "StartupNotify=true" thing or b) The application doesn't support startup notifcation timestamp forwarding (a requirement for apps that forward "open-a-window-for-me" requests like these apps) or both. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 163046 ***
