This looks like a bug in Alsa (the stack trace is very close to the one in bug 147317, which is a dup of bug 147234).
What version of gst-plugins? This should be fixed in recent gst-plugins releases.
I installed gstreamer-plugins-0.8.4-2 by RPM. The RPM is Fedora official.
Can you please retry with gst-plugins-0.8.5?
$rhythmbox --version Gnome rhythmbox 0.8.8 $rpm -q gstreamer-plugins gstreamer-plugins-0.8.5-1 I tryed. But rhythmbox crushed. the log; Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/rhythmbox' Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". Masahiro, can you provide me with a debug log (gst-launch --gst-debug=*alsa*:5 sinesrc ! alsasink)?

Thanks for the info, I have applied a workaround to CVS, I think version 0.8.6 of gst-plugins will fix this. Can you please test that once it comes out? Also, I'm still of the opinion that this is an ALSA bug, since apparently the simple sequence of snd_pcm_hw_params_any() followed by snd_pcm_hw_params() will cause crashes. Therefore, can you tell me what soundcard you have (output of lspci -vv for this particular device would be fine)?

It appears that bug 161471 may be a duplicate, and using version 0.8.6.

it is an alsa bug, not gst AFAIK, we work around it in latest gst (await alsa to fix it upstream) closing
